The seasons have slowly been transitioning and so has my wardrobe. With fall on the horizon, I’ve started uncovering all my outerwear, knit sweaters, and best of all – leather boots. For some reason growing up I was never huge on sneakers. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good pair of Vans, but when I was in high school a combat boot was always a part of my school uniform. Something about a leather boot makes an outfit appear more classic, effortless, with a bit of an edge.

This season, I’ve partnered with Zappos to showcase the latest Frye collection. For this look, I chose to style the Frye Prison Yard Boot with a simple grey tee and grey denim. What I love most about these boots is that they are fitted around the ankle, leaving you with a clean and finished look. This boot comes in two different colors, but I obviously opted for the black. The pebbled leather will definitely be able to take a punch or two when the harshness of winter sweeps over the city.

One of my favorite features of the boot is that there is an actual “prison number” stamped on the heel inspired by prison serial numbers. This small detail only adds to the rugged vintage look of this boot. Being founded in 1863, Frye has established itself as an original American heritage brand. As I’ve mentioned before, I have been working towards investing in more timeless pieces that will hold up over the years. Living in New York City means that closet space is limited and you really need to be particular about what you choose to add to your wardrobe!  I have taught myself to follow the “one in, one out” method of parting with one article of clothing each time I purchase a new one. These Frye boots are totally worth the addition to my closet as their iconic quality means they will hold up for years to come.
